Where can you experience the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra this summer?

The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform at several major music festivals and concerts. As well as orchestral works, the concerts will feature exceptional guests. These include the world-renowned conductor Wayne Marshall, the singers Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka, and the vocalist Vojtěch Dyk.

At the end of June, we can look forward to two evenings dedicated to the most famous operetta melodies. The first concert will take place on 21 June in Frýdek-Místek and the second on 28 June in Kostelec nad Orlicí. Kateřina Kněžíková (in Frýdek-Místek), Doubravka Novotný (in Kostelec nad Orlicí) and Adam Plachetka will take the leading roles, presenting works by operetta masters such as Franz Lehár, Emmerich Kálmán, and Johann Strauss Jr.

The grand finale of this year's Smetana's Litomyšl festival, on 6 July, will celebrate American music. Led by the exceptional conductor and pianist Wayne Marshall, the programme will feature Gershwin's Second Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra and An American in Paris. You will also enjoy the concert suite from Leonard Bernstein's musical West Side Story. The soloists for the evening will be Vojtěch Dyk and Soňa Godarská, performing the roles of Tony and Maria. This concert, which is being supported by the Committee of Goodwill – Olga Havel Foundation, will also be broadcast by Czech Television.

The summer concert series will conclude with a performance by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra on 19 July as part of the 34th International Music Festival Český Krumlov. The festival will feature Latin American rhythms performed by Spanish guitar virtuoso Pablo Sáinz-Villegas, accompanied by flamenco dancer Virginia Delgado and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
