The peak of the concert season is here: Petr Popelka to perform Brahms’ symphonies

25. březen 2026

The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra is approaching the peak of its concert season. In April, Chief Conductor Petr Popelka will lead the orchestra in performing all four symphonies by Johannes Brahms. The works will be presented over two consecutive evenings at the Municipal House, marking a farewell to their chief conductor after a successful five-year collaboration.

Petr Popelka, who in recent years has conducted some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, returns to Prague after several months—and it will certainly be worth it once again.

„The four symphonies of Johannes Brahms represent the absolute pinnacle of the symphonic repertoire, and I am truly delighted that we can perform the complete cycle on April 13 and 14 at the Municipal House,” says Petr Popelka.

This unique presentation will take place over two days. On Monday, April 13, Symphonies No. 1 and No. 2 will be performed, followed by Symphonies No. 3 and No. 4 on April 14. The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra has also prepared a discounted ticket package for both concerts.
