The Start of 2026 with PRSO
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra opens the year 2026 with concerts at the Municipal House. On 12 January, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor, “Resurrection” will be performed.
Conducted by Tomáš Hanus, this monumental work will feature soloists Kateřina Kněžíková and Václava Krejčí Housková, together with the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno.
Not only subscribers are warmly invited to the traditional pre-concert talk Come Early, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal House Café.
Eight days later, on 20 January, the programme turns to film with Erotikon. The digitally restored silent film by Gustav Machatý from 1929 will be accompanied, in a world premiere, by a new score by Jana Vöröšová. The entire evening, performed by the orchestra, will be conducted by Jan Kučera.
The January programme concludes on 26 January with a performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in an arrangement for accordion, mandolin and piano, followed by Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major “English”, conducted by Israeli conductor and composer Omer Meir Wellber. In Prague, Wellber will appear not only as a conductor but also as an accordionist. This unique ensemble will be completed by Guy Mintus on piano and Jacob Reuven on mandolin.
All concerts are broadcast on Czech Radio Vltava.
