PRSO and Chinaski Join Forces: Unconventional Concert at Forum Karlín Brings a Fresh Take on Familiar Hits

21. květen 2025

It’s not often that the audience of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra finds itself dancing during a concert. But on May 19 at Prague’s Forum Karlín, that’s exactly what happened.

The band Chinaski performed together with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Jan Kučera.

This unusual musical experience offered listeners new arrangements of Chinaski’s well-known hits like “Tabáček,” “Vakuum,” and “Punčocháče,” crafted by the band’s keyboardist Honza Steinsdörfer. For example, the song “1970” was played in a reggae style, “Tabáček” evoked the feel of a Hollywood film score, and the track “Víno” incorporated elements of Moravian folk music.

The performance surprised both long-time listeners of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and fans who had come mainly to see Chinaski. At times, the voices of singing fans even overpowered frontman Malátný. Special guests Jitka Čvančarová and Ondřej Ruml also joined Chinaski on stage.

A recording of this unique concert will soon be available on vinyl, and Radiožurnál will broadcast it this summer.
