The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will present the masterpieces of Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, and Bacewicz

4. březen 2025

On Monday, March 17, 2025, at 7:30 PM, the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum will host a special concert by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Under the baton of conductor Elias Grandi, works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Sergei Rachmaninov, and Sergei Prokofiev will be performed.

The evening will open with the "Overture" by Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, written in 1943. This piece, triumphantly ending with fanfares, despite its brevity, displays the characteristics of a grand symphonic work.

Next, the "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" by Sergei Rachmaninov will be performed, a virtuosic piece composed in the spirit of the composer's piano concertos. The solo part will be played by the talented Czech pianist Adam Znamirovský, whose interpretation promises a profound musical experience.

After the intermission, Sergei Prokofiev’s "Symphony No. 5" will be performed. This is the composer's most famous, most accessible, and most beloved symphony, dated to the wartime year of 1944. The composer described it as a "hymn to the free and happy man, to his mighty forces, his pure and noble spirit."

The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava and recorded for Czech Radio D-dur the following Wednesday. Tickets are available at prso.czech.radio.

Don’t miss this unique evening of masterpieces performed by one of the leading Czech orchestras.
