The members of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra can also perform without a conductor. You can find this out for yourself at the beginning of the new year. Led by the leader of the oboe section, Zdeněk Rys, thirteen wind instrument members will perform the Serenade created by the seventeen-year-old Richard Strauss. This will be followed by the Folk Suite by Jaroslav Krček, a composer, a conductor, a choirmaster and the founder of the legendary ensemble Musica Bohemica, who celebrated his eightieth birthday in April 2019.

The rest of the programme will belong to string instruments. Led by the Music Director Vlastimil Kobrle, they will first perform the Ancient Airs and Dances based on the lute works of ancient masters created by Ottorino Respighi. The evening will culminate with the impressive St Paul's Suite that Gustav Holst, the author of the famous Planets, composed for the St Paul's Girls' School in London.
