Francis Poulenc: Sinfonietta
Marek Šedivý – conductor
Zdeněk Rys – oboe
Martina Bačová – violin
This concert by the Principal guest Conductor Marek Šedivý promises French esprit. At the beginning, the leader of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra oboe section Zdeněk Rys will present the Oboe Concerto by Henri Tomasi, who made his name as an author of music for wind instruments.
The rest of the programme brings us the music of two members of Les Six. Magnificent, internationally well acquainted violinist Martina Bačová will perform a poetic, ten minutes long but virtuously rendered piece by Darius Milhaud's Violin Concerto No. 1. The evening will end with Francis Poulenc's neoclassical Sinfonietta, one of the few purely orchestral concert works of a composer who gained more respect as an author of songs and piano music.
