The Best of the Upcoming Season

16. duben 2025

The 99th season of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra promises an extraordinary musical experience.

Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Petr Popelka presents a programme that combines iconic works from the world repertoire with exciting premieres by contemporary composers, as well as exceptional soloists and conductors from the Czech Republic and abroad.

Guest conductors for next season include Tomáš Hanus, who will lead the orchestra in a programme of works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Strauss. Other notable guest conductors include Jonathan Nott, Andris Poga and Omer Meir Wellber.

The season also features outstanding soloists. French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard will perform Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, while British pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason will present the demanding and expressive Piano Concerto No. 3 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Acclaimed violinist Christian Tetzlaff will perform the Czech premiere of Ondřej Adámek's Houslový koncert.

Czech performers include marimbists Ludwig Albert and Ladislav Bilan Jr, violinist Josef Špaček, pianists Martin Kasík and Marek Kozák, and sopranos Kateřina Kněžíková and Veronika Rovná.

Fans of musical theatre will not be left out either. Prague's Forum Karlín will host a gala concert celebrating the 35th anniversary of the radio show Muzikál Express, featuring the greatest hits from Czech and international musical theatre accompained by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Czech Radio Children's Choir.
