The second concert of PRSO in January will welcome three world renown artists – the Estonian conductor, Anu Tali, the British tenor, Toby Spence, and one of the best horn players of the past decades, Radek Baborák. All three will join forces in the Serenade that Benjamin Britten composed in 1946 for his artistic and life partner, tenor Sir Peter Pears.
In the first half of the programme, Radek Baborák will perform Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3, one of the core works for the repertoire of his instrument. The evening will introduce two works associated with Great Britain – Mendelssohn's overture The Hebrides, inspired by the composer's trip to the Scottish islands, and the iconic Enigma Variations, where Edward Elgar created musical portraits of his friends.
