The composer, singer and pianist Beata Hlavenková named her unique concert with the PRSO using the words of Emily Dickinson, whose poem she set to music on her album Žijutě (2021). She has been inspired by poetry in her work for some time. The album Sně (2019) features Bohuslav Reynek’s or Petr Borkovec’s poems set to music. The concert programme will present both new music written for the occasion and the aforementioned songs/poems. Beata Hlavenková is one of the most distinctive contemporary musicians with an unmistakable cross-genre style. Her main asset is courage – the courage to experiment, to look for unconventional harmonies and arrangements. Genre freedom, backed by a deep awareness of jazz, modern classical music, pop and songwriting, is interwoven with a clearly recognizable focused and sensitive interpretation in all her projects.

The jazz pianist Kristina Barta, increasingly successful abroad, has composed a new piece for a jazz quartet and a symphony orchestra. With the composition entitled Women bring new lives into this world, the composer set to music the miracle of birth, the personal experience of the arrival of new life. The beautiful and lyrical music projecting the arrival of a new person into the world alternates with free passages full of improvisation and unexpected twists, permeated with pain and anguish. Everything culminates with the joy of the birth of life and a celebration of the miracle in which we all participated at the beginning of our life. Barta will co-operate with David Dorůžka, whom she considers one of the best Czech improvisers, for the first time. The magic of the moment and the pure joy of music will be central to this opening night. The band, which has accompanied Kristina Barta for several years, is a top Czech/Slovak rhythm band. Kristina Barta is considered by critics to be a controversial artist who very openly projects emotions and feelings into her music. She thus summarised the new composition by a passage from the Gospel of John: “A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.”
