The first of the concerts in the Bethlehem Chapel will host two young artists, finalists and winners of the 2023 Concertino Praga international radio competition in the chamber music category. We will hear violinist Daniel Matejča and pianist Jan Schulmeister accompanied by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jaroslav Kyzlinek There will also be the world première of Concerto in D for Violin and Orchestra "Prayer for Barbara" by Jaroslav Pelikán. He wrote it directly for Daniel Matejča and dedicated it to his daughter. In Mozart's Concerto for Violin, Piano and Orchestra in D Major, Daniel Matejča and the orchestra will be joined by pianist Jan Schulmeister, and we will be able to fully enjoy the fresh and impressive playing of both these talented artists. At the close of the evening, we will hear Tre ricercari for chamber orchestra by Bohuslav Martinů. This 1938 composition belongs to a loose trilogy of works based on the concerto grosso principle and is also one of the highlights of his work during his Parisian period. Martinů composed it for the Festival of Contemporary Music in Venice, and since then it has enjoyed extraordinary popularity among listeners.
