New Year concert for the Czech Technical University
On Monday 18 January 2010 at 8pm the Rudolfinum's Dvořák Hall will host a concert for the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) on the occasion of the school's 303rd anniversary. Ludwig van Beethoven's Triple Concerto and Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 7 in D minor will be performed by violinist Roman Patočka, cellist Jiří Bárta, pianist Jan Simon and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Petr Vronský.
Guests in the audience will include the Czech Republic's First Lady, Mrs Livia Klausová, the ambassadors of Argentina, Japan, Hungary, Norway, Austria, Slovakia and Germany, and members of the diplomatic corps of Great Britain, France and Canada.
Invitations were also accepted by rectors of Czech universities and faculty deans, directors of institutes within the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and other figures from academic and scientific circles, among others.
The Czech Technical University in Prague is one of the largest and oldest technical colleges in Europe. ČVUT currently has eight faculties with over 20,000 registered students.
