Concerts in Germany with conductor Leoš Svárovský and Jan Simon at the piano

24. listopad 2009

"I've written just one masterpiece, it's my Bolero; unfortunately it doesn't contain any music" - thus Maurice Ravel was said to have complained to his contemporary Arthur Honegger. It was this work, written in 1928 with encouragement from the Russian dancer Ida Rubinstein, which undeniably brought its composer international recognition. Guests at a concert on 30 November held in Gasteig, Munich, will hear the work performed by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, who regularly appear at this cultural centre. The concert programme, conducted by Leoš Svárovský, also features the overture to Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro, Piano Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg with soloist Jan Simon, and a selection of Antonín Dvořák's Slavonic Dances.

The above-mentioned performers will also present the same programme a day earlier, on Sunday 29 November, in two concerts at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt.
