Two gala evenings

Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra to appear in two important concerts at the end of October.

The first concert will take place on Sunday 25 October at the National Memorial at Vítkov which will be ceremonially opened in the presence of Czech President Václav Klaus. The building has undergone complete reconstruction in recent years. The memorial will be re-opened to the sound of Dvořák's Czech Suite. The orchestra will be conducted by Vladimír Válek.

On Monday 26 October the Rudolfinum will host a gala concert to mark the founding of the Czechoslovak state and the 20th anniversary of the political and social changes which occurred in former Czechoslovakia. The event is held under the auspices of President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Přemysl Sobotka and Speaker of the National Council of Slovakia Pavol Paška. The programme will feature works by Mozart, Handel, Donizetti and Verdi, performed by soprano Adriana Kohútková, baritone Adam Plachetka and the Czech Boys' Choir Boni pueri. The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Rastislav Štúr.
