The end of the Radio Autumn Festival belongs to the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra with V. Válek and S. Jaffé

On Wednesday 30 September 2009 the final concert of the Radio Autumn International Music Festival takes place at the Dvořák´s Hall of Rudolfinum. The program offers Concerto for violin and orchestra in A minor by Dmitri Shostakovich and Dvořák´s Symphony No. 9 in E minor "From the New World". The orchestra will play under its Chief Conductor Vladimír Válek and together with the violinist Sophia Jaffé.

29-years-old interpreter fascinates the audience with clear technique combined with great musical sensitivity and deep emotional expression. She was taught by her parents Nora and Abraham Jaffé from her fifth year on. At the age of seven she had her first public performance at the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall, presented and accompanied at the piano by the conductor Gerd Albrecht. From 1995-1998 she received lessons from Prof. Herman Krebbers in Amsterdam. From 1998 on she studied with Prof. Stephan Picard at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin. Since 2006 she has been teaching the violin at this school.

After her early successes she soon received a notable 3rd prize at the international Concours of Geneva 2004. Shortly afterwards she won the German Music Competition Berlin 2005 as well as the 3rd prize at the prestigious international Queen Elizabeth Competition Brussels the same year.

With Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra she has been playing several times both abroad and in Czech Republic. Last time she met with them in Rudolfinum performing Brahms´ Concerto in D major.
