This year's Concertino Praga prizewinner Jan Hudeček with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra
From 12th to 14th November the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra with conductor Jan Kučera will record the Concerto for Bassoon and Chamber Orchestra by Jan Nepomuk Hummel. The solo part will be performed by the prizewinner of the 42nd annual radio competition for young musicians, the Concertino Praga, 18 year-old Jan Hudeček from České Budějovice.
He has been playing the bassoon since the age of eight. He is currently a student in the 3rd year of the České Budějovice Conservatoire in the class of Zdeněk Haloun. At the early age of ten he won the national competition for junior music schools in Uničov, then a year later 2nd prize at the International Competition for double reed instruments in Olomouc (in the category under 16 years). In 2000, 2003 and 2006 he placed 1st in the "South Bohemia Talent" competition. In 2002 he won 2nd place in the national round of the international Syrinx competition and the title of "Most remarkable talent in the competition". In 2003 he was once again victorious in the national competition for junior music schools in Uničov. At the beginning of April 2005, as holder of 1st prize in the National Competition of Conservatoires in Plzen, he took part in the Winners' Concert. In the same year he achieved success in Italy at the 15th annual international Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Musicisti "Cittá di Barletta" competition, where he took 1st place and became absolute winner of all categories for wind instruments.
He has already appeared twice as a soloist with the South Bohemia Chamber Philharmonic, thanks to his winner's title in the competition run by this orchestra. He plays regularly in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bohemia and Moravia and in the Třeboň Spa Symphony Orchestra. His most recent success was 1st prize at the 30th competition review of Czech conservatoires and 2nd prize in the International Radio Competition for Young Musicians - Concertino Praga 2008.
