An evening to mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia
On 27th October the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, with its Chief Conductor Vladimír Válek, singers Adriana Kohútková and Gustav Beláček and the Boni Pueri boy's choir, will perform a concert in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum to mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, as well as the fact that Czechoslovak Radio (now Czech Radio), the second-oldest radio station in Europe, this year celebrates the 85th year of its existence.
The gala evening will be held under the auspices of the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Přemysl Sobotka, and the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Pavol Paška. Other senior constitutional dignitaries from both countries will also be present.
The programme for the concert, which will begin at 7.30 p.m., includes works by famous Czech and Slovak composers such as Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Eugen Suchoň, Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský and Gejza Dusík.
