Radio Symphony Orchestra sets off on tour of Germany, Italy and Austria (8th to 14th October 2008)
A total of five concerts in prestigious locations awaits them (the Herkulessaal in Munich, the Freiburg Konzerthaus, the Cathedral in Brien, and two performances in the Stephaniesal in Graz).
The programme contains Smetana's cycle My Country, Dvořák's Te Deum and Janáček's overture to Jealousy, as well as his Glagolitic Mass. The conductors will be Vladimír Válek and Leoš Svárovský, the solo vocal parts will be performed by Eva Dřízgová-Jirušová, Jana Wallingerová, Otokar Klein and Martin Gurbaľ, and they will be joined by organist Martin Jakubíček and the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, led by choirmaster Petr Fiala.
Radio listeners can also enjoy the pieces to be played at the concerts in Graz. A recording is to be made by Austrian state radio station ORF for broadcasting not only within Austria, but also through the European Broadcasting Union network, as part of an international exchange.
