The PRSO on the road in Europe

9. leden 2015

Two short trips await the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra in January. On Wednesday 21 January it will play in Erlangen, at the Heinrich-Lades-Halle, with conductor Leoš Svárovský and violinist Sophia Jaffé, who will perform in Dvořák’s Concerto in A minor. Also on the programme is the same composer’s Ninth Symphony and Josef Suk’s Fantastic Scherzo.

The following day the ensemble will appear at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper; the programme will be the same with the exception that organisers have requested Smetana’s Vltava rather than the Suk piece.

The following week the orchestra will fly to Switzerland where, under chief conductor Ondrej Lenárd, it will launch one of Europe’s most watched winter cultural events, the Musicaux de Gstaad festival. It takes place at the well-known ski resort and has in the past welcomed numerous big name artists (Cecilia Bartoli, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Vadim Repin, Mischa Maisky, Camerata Bern, Sinfonia Varsovia).

There the PRSO will perform a programme with a romantic flavour on 30 January (Schubert, Dvořák, Gliere, Rachmaninoff); soprano Inva Mula and harpist Emmanuel Ceysson will appear with the orchestra.
