Postcard from Japan
In this piece, you will find a number of photographs from further concerts on the 10th tour of Japan by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (PRSO). The picture from Osaka’s Symphony Hall is from Sunday 23.6, when the third concert on the tour included Smetana’s Vltava, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony (“Destiny”) and Dvořák’s Ninth or New World Symphony.
Another concert was held in Sapporo on Tuesday 25.6 (which we will write about separately), while the PRSO performed the following day in Aomori, the capital of a prefecture of the same name in northern Japan with a population of around 300,000.
The programme was the same as in Osaka, though there were encores, featuring the Slavonic Dances.
The very next day, on Thursday 27.6, the sixth of a total of 14 performances took place in Morioka. The programme was the same for the third time in succession.
Morioka, the capital of the prefecture of Iwate on the island of Honshu, boasts a beautiful hall with a capacity of around 2,000. The day after the concert the musicians enjoyed a rest day in the city.
