First concert of Japanese tour takes place on first day of summer
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (PRSO) opens its summer tour of Japan on the island of Shikoku, in the prefecture of Kagawa, respectively its capital Takamatsu. The programme includes Smetana’s Vltava, Chopin’s Concerto for Piano no. 1 with soloist Fujiko Hemming, a lady of 80, and concludes with Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony in G major.
There are a great number of historical landmarks in Takamatsu, though the PRSO’s musicians will likely not get to experience them as their programme is full and it is raining heavily and relentlessly. (Perhaps this can be seen optimistically – as a “holiday” from the tropical temperatures in the Czech Republic).
The photographs were taken on the spot by Jakub Čížek, director of the Communications and External Relations Department. As soon as we receive more reports we will share them with you immediately.
