Tour of Japan 2013
On 18 June, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will set off for its 10th Japanese tour in a row ahead of its opening concert, which is planned for the first day of summer. The orchestra will perform 14 times in such cities as Osaka (the Symphony Hall), Tokyo (the Suntory Hall), Sapporo, Nagoya and Fukuoka. As is traditional, the programme will include Smetana’s My Country (respectively, a selection from the cycle) and Dvořák’s Eighth and New World (Ninth) symphonies; it will also feature Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 “Fate”, Chopin’s piano concertos with soloists from Japan and the world-renowned Stanislav Bunin and Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in H minor, with the solo part performed by Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi in Sapporo and Michal Kaňka in Oita. The head of the ensemble, Ondrej Lenárd, will conduct. The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will travel home on 8 July.
