PRSO members to take part in Euroradio Easter Day

10. březen 2013

On Palm Sunday, March 24, several members of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (PRSO) will join other musicians for a performance of the Stabat Mater by Johann Baptist Vanhal. It is being held within the framework of the Euroradio Easter Day, whose collective broadcast Czech Radio Vltava will take part in via a live relay from the Church of Saints Simon and Judy in Prague.

The concert begins at 17:00. It is freely accessible to the public and as well as being broadcast live by Czech Radio Vltava will be streamed live in video on the website KLASIKA.

The programme marks this year’s 200th anniversary of the death of Johann Baptist Vanhal, an important representative of Czech émigré music at the end of the 18th century. He spent most of his life in Vienna, where he was a successful and respected composer in his day.

His impressive piece Stabat Mater will be performed by soprano Michaela Šrůmová, the mezzo soprano Jana Levicová-Horáková, members of the Czech Radio Children’s Choir with choirmasters Blanka Kulínská and Lukáš Jindřich and members of the PRSO. Vojtěch Spurný will conduct.

The concert is being relayed to national radio stations in the Euroradio network in Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Greece, Spain and Sweden.
