Czech Radio ball to mark anniversary of launch of broadcasting asu
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (PRSO) conducted by Leoš Svárovský will naturally be in attendance at the Municipal House on Saturday 23 March, when a Czech Radio ball will raise the curtain on celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the launch of regular radio broadcasts in this country.
Also performing will be the Gustav Brom Czech Radio Big Band led by Vladimír Valovič, the Brno Radio Orchestra of Folk Instruments headed by František Černý and the Čtyřlístek ensemble from Nové Strašecí with Bohumil Chochola. The evening’s main guest will be Karel Gott.
The ball will be ceremonially opened by the general director of Czech Radio, Peter Duhan, and radio presenters Martina Kociánová and Roman Vojtek at 20:00. Doors will open at 19:00
Visitors can also look forward to three dance shows. Throughout the evening a disco organised by the Czech Radio Regina programme Night Stream will take place in the Grégr Hall. Members of the cast of the musical Children of Paradise will perform live.
Tickets are on sale at the Radioservis shop in the Czech Radio building at Vinohradská 12, Prague 2, which is open on weekdays from 9:00 do 18:00. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will be donated to the Světluška (Firefly) account of the Czech Radio Endowment Fund.
