PRSO set for Gasteig on eve of festive period

16. březen 2015

On Saturday 22 December, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform a programme of works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky at Munich’s renowned Gasteig, and visitors can look forward to an experience that is visual as well as musical.

The Munich musician and photographer Tobias Melle will present the distinctive artistic form that he has dubbed “Hörensehen” (hear-see), through which he will introduce the audience to both his interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony in E Minor and his traveller’s impressions from a three-year wander around various corners of Russia.

The first part of the evening will be devoted to Tchaikovsky as well, with a performance of his Piano Concerto No.1 in B Minor. The solo will be played by Annika Treutler, who won two special commendations and a grant in the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb 2011 competition.

The conductor’s stand will be occupied by Heiko Mathias Förster, who works around the world and is also known for his opera and concert projects in the Czech Republic. He has collaborated on opera recitals with stars such as Barbara Frittoli, Elina Garanča, Angela Gheorghiu, Joseph Calleja, José Cura and Rolando Villazón.
