Well received symphony of Queen’s music set for Český Krumlov
The ability of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (PRSO) to play music from outside the classical genre is proven regularly, and further evidence of the musicians’ openness will be provided on 28 July at Český Krumlov’s Brewery Garden, when the orchestra will appear with the Kühn Children’s and Mixed Choirs and conductor Tolga Kashif.
Kashif is also a composer and is responsible for The Queen Symphony, a vocal symphonic tribute to the famous rock band.
The six-movement composition is built on 12 melodies from songs by the legendary group, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “The Show Must Go On”, “We Will Rock You”, “We Are the Champions” and “Who Wants to Live Forever”.
Kashif premiered the Queen Symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall in 2002, meeting with an enthusiastic reaction from the audience, critics and members of the band themselves. This new romantic flavoured suite was also nominated for a prize at the Classical Brit Awards.
