Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra kicking off Radio Autumn festival

7. říjen 2010

On 12 October in the Rudolfinum's Dvořák Hall, the first of six concerts will take place as part of this year's Radio Autumn (12 – 16 October 2010). The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOČR) will perform under the baton of Tomáš Netopil, presenting Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 in C-sharp minor, Chopin's Piano Concerto No 2 in F minor with soloist Alexander Ghindin, as well as the Dance Suite for Orchestra by Béla Bartók and concluding with Ravel's choreographic poem La Valse.

The Radio Autumn international music festival, which is put on by Czech Radio's publishing company, Radioservis, was started in 2009.

The main goal of the festival is to present Czech audiences with radio orchestras that are, like the SOČR, part of public radio and television stations across Europe. The "radio" aspect in the name of the festival not only indicates the presence of these orchestras, but also the connection to Czech Radio as the main media partner and co-organiser of the festival.

Czech Radio makes recordings of all the concerts. At the same time it broadcasts the concerts on Czech Radio 3 – Vltava and also provides them for broadcast to foreign public radio stations that are part of the European Broadcasting Union.

You can find the complete programme of the festival, an overview of the live broadcasts and concert recordings, as well as information on ticket sales at www.rozhlas.cz/radioautumn/portal/.
