In the recording studio with Tomáš Netopil

14. říjen 2015

After cooperating on two Janáček albums for the Supraphon label, conductor Tomáš Netopil is set to again helm the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and begin recording a third CD of music by the composer.

The releases to date have been extremely well-received. The CD of Sinfoinetta and the symphonic poems The Fiddler’s Child, The Ballad of Blaník and Taras Bulba was selected as a prestigious Editor’s Choice of the month in Gramophone, while the second album, Glagolitic Mass and Eternal Gospel, was chosen as Recording of the Month on the site MusicWeb International.

This time it is the turn of a suite from the operas. The musicians will take on Jenůfa at the end of October before recording music from the operas Káťa Kabanová and Destiny in the middle of November.

Tomáš Netopil – winner of the Sir Georg Solti conducting competition (2012), guest with preeminent orchestras (Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, etc.) and at the world’s top opera venues, and currently musical director of the opera in Essen – has a wonderful understanding with the PRSO; the results of their cooperation to date guarantee another unique project.
