Serious and lighthearted with Vladimír Válek
Rudolfinum, 3 April 2017, 19:30. Public dress rehearsal, 9:30
In our jubilee season the honorary principal conductor of the PRSO Vladimír Válek, who has guided the orchestra for over a quarter-century now, invites you on a journey back in time. The starting point will be Variations on a Theme by Frank Zappa, in which contemporary composer Lukáš Hurník draws on his rock roots, before a journey to the other end of the spectrum with Smetana’s Festive Overture in C major. The programme dedicated to Czech music also includes Jaroslav Ježek’s jazz-influenced Piano Concerto and Sinfonietta, Leoš Janáček’s best-known orchestral work.
