Czech traces in the New World

The autumn part of the PRSO’s concert season will culminate with a guest appearance by the world-renowned Czech conductor Tomáš Netopil. He will helm performances of the vocal-instrumental cycle Bouquet of Flowers by Bohuslav Martinů, Philharmonic Dances by Martinů’s pupil Jan Novák and the Piano Concerto by Miroslav Srnka, who is today the best-known Czech composer on the international scene.
In terms of importance, the premiere of Srnka’s opera South Pole at the Bavarian State Opera in January this year has been compared to the premiere of Martinů’s The Greek Passion. The solo part of the immensely demanding concerto will be performed by Nicolas Hodges, one of the greatest pianists specialised in contemporary music.
The concert is taking place as part of the 2016 Bohuslav Martinů Days festival.
