Josef Suk: Fantastic Scherzo, Op. 25
Bohuslav Martinů: Rhapsody - Concerto for Viola and Orchestra
Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 1 in G minor, Op. 13 “Winter Daydreams”
Michał Nesterowicz – Conductor
Maxim Rysanov – Viola
His first time back after the successful concert with pianist Lukáš Vondráček, conductor Michał Nesterowicz will unite Czech and Russian music.
Whereas the energetic Fantastic Scherzo was composed by Josef Suk still before his mature works Praga, Asrael and Ripening, the viola concerto Rhapsody was written by his student Bohuslav Martinů at the height of his artistic career in New York shortly before he composed his Sixth Symphony.
The solo part of the lyrical composition will be performed by British-Ukrainian violist Maxim Rysanov, who makes regular appearances at the BBC Proms and the Salzburg and Edinburgh festivals.
The December programme will be concluded by Winter Daydreams, which the young Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed when he began to study at the Moscow Conservatory and which launched his career as an excellent symphonist.
Ticket prices: 440 / 390 / 350 / 310 / 180 / 100 CZK
The concert is being held as part of the Bohuslav Martinů Days 2017 festival and with the support of the Polish Institute.
