In the 90 years that they have been around, the world’s best musicals have found their way into the repertoire of world renowned opera singers and music bodies, their melodies thereby acquiring a new dimension.
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra has never shied away from top-notch compositions from musicals – but mainly as interpreted by singers of musicals. This project, masterminded by leading world-renowned bass-baritone Adam Plachetka and conductor Tomáš Netopil, will showcase real gems from classic and contemporary musicals.
Compositions from musical greats George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, Burton Lane, Leonard Bernstein, Frederick Loewe, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Claude-Michel Schönberg will in most cases receive an instrumental makeover to allow the sound of the symphony orchestra to come through.
The entire concert will also be studio recorded and issued on CD.
