Adam Plachetka – Bass-baritone
The January concert will bring a performance by Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra’s artist-in-residence, bass-baritone Adam Plachetka, soloist of the Vienna State Opera, who has found success in opera houses and concert halls the world over.
Principal conductor Ondrej Lenárd invited him to sing Two Large Songs by Richard Strauss, which composition sets to music the texts written by Richard Dhemel and Friedrich Rückert. This rarely performed, dramatic and dark composition was written in 1899. The concert begins and ends with two works by Johannes Brahms: The Tragic Overture, which, despite its suggestive name, is not based on any real or fictional event; and the melodious Second Symphony.
