March Experiences with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra
PRSO brings three different musical experiences in March – a grand Romantic programme, a concert for two marimbas, and even an opera in Hungarian. We will visit the Municipal House, Bethlehem Chapel, and the Rudolfinum. Will you choose your evening?
A Romantic Programme at the Municipal House
Conductor Jiří Habart returns to the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra after three months, this time in full splendour.

At the Municipal House on 2 March, you will hear the monumental overture to Fibich’s opera Šárka and the almost unknown yet highly interesting Concerto for Coloratura Soprano by Reinhold Glière. The highlight of the evening will be Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony, which the conductor described as "one of the most erotic symphonies ever written".

Two Marimbas in the Leading Role
The marimba – a magical percussion instrument – will resonate through the spaces of Bethlehem Chapel on 12 March. And not just one…

The main protagonists of the next concert will be two marimba soloists – Ladislav Bilan Jr. and Ludwig Albert.
The 70-minute programme will feature two marimba concertos in their Czech premiere, as well as part of Gustav Holst’s The Planets – Venus. The concert will be conducted by Venezuelan conductor Andrés Maurette O’Brien.

An Opera in Hungarian by Béla Bartók
Have you ever heard an opera sung in Hungarian? The one-act opera Bluebeard’s Castle by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók will be performed at the next subscription concert at the Rudolfinum.
