Lydie Härtelová

Harpist

Lydie Härtelová began playing the piano at the age of seven. As a pianist she also took part in the Concertino Praga International Radio Competition. At the age of fourteen she began learning a regal instrument, the harp. Within a year she was accepted at the Prague Conservatoire to study with Libuše Váchalová. She then transferred to the Academy of Music where, under the guidance of solo harpist of the Czech Philharmonic, senior lecturer Karel Patras, she built up a broad solo repertoire. She graduated from the Prague Academy with an award from the rector of the Academy of Music.

While she was still a student, she became a member of the well known ensemble Musica Bohemica, with whom she made several records and participated in hunderds of concerts at home and abroad. She was solo harpist for the Smetana Theatre in Prague (now the State Opera) and was then engagen with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Since September 2012 she has been a teacher at the Prague Conservatoire.

Apart from here work with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lydie Härtelová also performs as a soloist and chamber musician (Trio cantabile, Trigonum musicum). She has recorded with numerous companies, e. g. Supraphon, Panton, ECM, MusicVars and Ligia Digital, she made several dozen solo and chamber recordings for Czech Radio (some under her maiden name Henychová) and performed concertos for harp (Albrechtsberger, Mozart, Reinecke, Bruch, Debussy, Glier, Mosolov, Krček).
